October Events 2024

October is finally here and that means festival season is now in full swing! This month not only can you look forward to cool mountain weather and the beautiful changing of the trees; but you’ll find all kinds of exciting events & festivals happening around Blue Ridge and the surrounding areas. Check out our October newsletter to see what’s in store for you this month in the mountains:


October 1st-October 6th 

Location: Buck Bald Brewing 

Why not celebrate Oktoberfest in Copperhill at Buck Bald Brewing! From now until October 6th they will have delicious beer, pretzels, and all kinds of fun on their large outdoor patio. So what are you waiting for!? Put those lederhosens on and come on down!


October 1st-October 10th 

Location: Hamilton Gardens

Head to the beautiful Hamilton Gardens in Hiawassee GA Thursday nights for their Acoustic Sunsets Concert Series. The event takes place every Thursday night through October 10th from 5pm-9pm and will include food trucks, nighttime garden tours, and live music. Bring your lawn chairs or picnic blankets and come on out for an evening of fun!


October 1st-October 13th  

Location: Blue Ridge Arts Association 

Come celebrate the unique artistic works of local artists at BRMAA’s Contemporary Southern & Folk Art Exhibit. The exhibit will be open Tuesdays-Saturdays, August 31st to October 13th. With an opening reception August 31st at 5:30pm.


October 1st-October 18th 

Location: Tooney’s Music Venue

Come on out for live music at Tooney’s HUGE music venue select Friday and Saturday nights and enjoy the best live music McCaysville has to offer! Check their website often for live music updates. And every Thursday night get ready to take to the stage with open mic night!

Celebrate 25 years of Blue Ridge Community Theater with the first-ever Theater Gala and Hall of Fame. This event will have hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, an auction, and performances from Jim Richter, Patti Carreau, and the Sunny D kids. Tickets are $29.25 per adult.

Explore the beauty of North Georgia on a guided hiking tour with the Benton MacKaye Trail Association. They offer 2-4 hikes a month varying in difficulty from easy, leisurely hikes to moderately difficult hikes.

October 4th: Shady Falls Trailhead to Lake Blue Ridge and Back. DOG-FRIENDLY. Moderate 8 miles.

October 12th: GA Maintenance Trip. 

October 18th: BMT Highway 515 to Weaver Creek and return. DOG-FRIENDLY. Easy 5 miles. 

October 28th: Yonah Preserve in Cleveland. Easy to moderate 5 miles.


October 5th 

Location: Fannin County High School Football Field

If you love the sounds of a marching band this is the event for you! Over 2,000 marching band members will be in attendance so the Fannin County football field will be filled with the sounds of music! The bands will range in size from 40 members to 150+ members. Join us on October 5th for all the fun!

Calling all car lovers! Hiawassee is the place to be for Mustang cars and beautiful fall scenery. Register your own car or just drop by to admire the others. Come on by!

Pay tribute to Neil Diamond and his amazing legacy at the Neil Diamond Tribute Concert at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds! Steve Kelly and the Cherry Cherry Band are an award winning tribute experience that will rock the house down with all of Diamond’s greatest hits!  You won’t want to miss it! October 5th 

Location: Chattahoochee National Forest

Race through the Chattahoochee National Forest in this 50K race that consists of 20 miles of the Benton MacKaye trail, 2 miles of Hidden trails and 9 miles of Forest Service roads. This race is for the most experienced of runners and will be an exciting challenge for all. The race will also include live music and a hot meal! Registration ends October 6th. 


October 5th

Location: Noontootla Creek Farms

Enjoy a fun celebration of fall and Noontootla Creek Farms 70th Anniversary on October 5th! There will be pumpkin patches, corn mazes, casting classes, shotgun demos, fair food & brews and much more! You won't want to miss it!

Location: Old Epworth School

This wonderful fall festival at the Old Epworth School takes place on October 5th and will be filled with craft vendors, good food, music, raffles, games, bounce houses and more. Entry is free but donations are welcome!


October 5th-October 6th  

Location: Woody Gap School

The Indian Summer Festival is a fun fall festival that takes place every October at Georgia’s smallest public school. There will be vendors selling pottery, quilts, jewelry, homemade goods, leather crafts, furniture and so much more; as well as live music and food vendors. This year’s event takes place October 5th & 6th, don’t miss out!


October 5th-October 6th 

Location: John C. Campbell Folk School 

Head just over the state line to John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC for some fall fun! This year’s event will feature a wide variety of craft vendors, demonstrations, live music & dancing, delicious food, and family fun! The fun runs October 5th & 6th from 10am-5pm.

Location: Lee Newton Park

This year Jasper, Georgia celebrates it’s 42nd Annual Georgia Marble Festival! Join in the fun October 5th & 6th where there will be live music, a kids zone, fun runs, live demonstrations of marble & granite sculpting, delicious food, arts & crafts, a parade, and so much more! The event will take place at Lee Newton Park on Saturday from 10am-6pm and Sunday from 10am-4pm.

Location: Downtown Cherry Log

The Cherry Log Fall Festival happens every year on the first two weekends in October (October 5th-13th). This year’s event will include arts and crafts, homemade goodies and treats, bluegrass, country, and gospel music and of course lots of fall fun in Downtown Cherry Log!

Join in the fall fun at First United Methodist Church in Blairsville! It’ll be a day filled with baked goods, bbq, hot cocoa, hand crafted goods, a silent auction, and even a Christmas workshop to get you ready for the upcoming holiday season! The event runs all day from 9am-6pm. Admission is free!

Location: Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds

Every fall in Hiawassee the Georgia Mountain Fall Festival comes to town! This year’s Fall Fest takes place at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds from October 11th-13th & October 17th-19th. There will be carnival rides, craft vendors, delicious food, musical performances, a stunt show, a cowboy show, educational demonstrations, and so much more!


October 12th-October 13th 

Location: Downtown Blue Ridge

One of Blue Ridge’s most favorite events is back this fall on October 12th & 13th for Fall Arts in the Park.  Take in beautiful art, great live musical performances, and delicious food. Plus you’ll get a chance to admire the stunning and colorful fall trees that surround Downtown Blue Ridge and Veterans Memorial Park.  


October 12th-October 20th

Location: Meeks Park 

Blairsville’s famous Sorghum Festival is back for the 55th year in a row! Join in the fun at Meeks Park October 12th & 13th and October 19th & 20th. The fun starts October 12th at 10am with a kickoff parade and then there will be crafters, cloggers, educational demonstrations, bluegrass music and more!


October 12th-October 20th 

Location: Ellijay Lions Club Fairgrounds

Ellijay is the Apple Capital of Georgia, so fall brings around their amazing annual Georgia Apple Festival! With over 250+ vendors, live music, demonstrations and so much more it’s sure to be a blast! Visit the Ellijay Lions Club Fairgrounds on weekends October 12th & 13th and October 19th & 20th to have an ‘apple’lachian good time! Admission is $10 a person.


October 12th-October 20th

Location: Downtown Ellijay

And happening at the same time in Ellijay is the Georgia Apple Festival’s sister festival, the Apple Arts Festival. This festival hosts a variety of food & craft vendors in Downtown Ellijay and is completely free! You can even bring along your pup for all the fun!


October 17th-October 31st 

Location: Blue Ridge Community Theater 

Get in the Halloween spirit with Mel Brook’s Young Frankenstein the Musical at Blue Ridge Community Theater! Following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Fredrick Frankenstein animates his own creature who inevitably escapes the lab. Hilarity ensues as Frankenstein chases the creature across the countryside of Transylvania! Shows are Thursdays – Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm. The show runs October 17th-November 3rd.  Please call the box office at 706-632-9191 for tickets.


October 18th-October 20th 

Location: All Around Blue Ridge 

See some of the most spectacular homes in North Georgia showcased at this great annual event! Admire these incredible homes and get an idea for your dream mountain home October 18th thru October 20th.


October 19th 

Location: Angry Hops Brewing 

Celebrate Angry Hops’ amazing 3 years in business at their anniversary party! Natti Love Joys will be performing and Oma Margot’s German Food Truck will be serving up delicious German eats! All the fun kicks off at 4pm!


October 19th 

Location: Sugar Creek Raceway

Catch zooming cars at Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge, Georgia all summer long! Don’t miss a second of the action at this amazing off-road racetrack! Gates open at 5pm and hot laps start at 7pm.

October 19th: 2nd Annual Applefest Finale. Super Late Models. 


October 19th 

Location: Downtown Blue Ridge City Park

This ‘pawesome’ annual event includes you and your favorite furry friend! This year’s Paws in the Park takes place Saturday, October 19th in Downtown Blue Ridge City Park and includes a pet parade, a costume contest, pet photos, blessing of the animals, and much more!


October 19th 

Location: Vertical Church Blairsville

Vertical Church in Blairsville will be hosting a Fall Festival open to the community! There will be live music, food trucks, face painting, games, wagon rides, and a pumpkin patch. All the fun runs from 10am-6pm. 


October 19th-October 20th 

Location: Downtown Talking Rock

Pay a visit to Talking Rock, GA for the Annual Heritage Days Festival. Arts & crafts, antiques, live music, great food, a rubber duck race, and kid-friendly fun  await you October 19th & 20th from 9am-5pm.


October 19th-October 20th 

Location: Downtown Dahlonega

Celebrate Dahlonega’s 1828 discovery of gold at Gold Rush Days Festival, October 19th & 20th in downtown Dahlonega. Take in 200+ food and craft vendors all weekend long! This HUGE event always features amazing craftsmen, fantastic musicians, and has been voted as one of the Top 20 Events in the southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society.


October 19th-October 27th 

Location: Fannin Agricultural Facility 

Get some shopping down at the Harvest Sale of Blue Ridge at the Fannin Agricultural Facility this fall.  There will be all kinds of handmade items and goods for sale crafted from local artists. The 54th Annual Harvest Sale runs October 19th-20th & October 26th-27th, 9am-5pm.


October 25th  

Location: Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds

Country music star Sara Evans along with special guest, Lee Newton are coming to the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds this fall! Known for hits like “Suds in the Bucket,” “A Real Fine Place to Start,” “Perfect” and “A Little Bit Stronger,” Sara Evan’s has earned recognition as the fifth most played female artist at country radio. Don’t miss her performance at the Fairgrounds on October 25th! Tickets are $45+ handling.


October 25th-October 27th 

Location: Georgia Racing Hall of Fame

If you love moonshine and cars then Dawsonville’s 57th Annual Mountain Moonshine Festival & Car Show is for you! Happening at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame October 25th-27th there will be hundreds of vintage cars, live music, great food & drinks, a Moonshine Run, and over 300+ vendors! You can even meet legendary race car drivers at this awesome event that is one of the largest car shows in the Eastern U.S.!


October 26th 

Location: Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds 

The Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds also puts on the Appalachian Brew and Music Festival every year. This awesome event takes place October 26th and you can expect great craft brews from local breweries, delicious food from local vendors, and lots of Americana and Bluegrass music! You won’t want to miss these great events at the Fairgrounds!

Location: Paradise Hills, Cabins-Spa-Winery

Get ready for a night of laughs at the Winery Comedy Night! Live professional stand-up comics will make you laugh all night long! Grab a glass of wine or a beer and let the laughter flow! Doors open at 6:30pm and the show starts at 8pm!

Location: Downtown Hiawassee Square 

More fall fun awaits in Downtown Hiawassee for North Mt. Zion’s 3rd Annual Fall Festival! The event will include 40+ vendors, food trucks, live entertainment, a chili cook-off, bake sale & free kids activities. All the fun runs 10am-4pm. Admission is FREE! 


October 26th-October 27th

Location: Project Chimps

Dress up and head to Project Chimps October 26th & 27th for “Chimp or Treat”. Not only will kids get a goodie bag full of treats but they’ll also get a close-up look of the chimpanzees in their habitat.


October 27th  

Location: Grumpy Old Men Brewing 

Bring your pup to Grumpy Old Men Brewing on October 27th for their annual Barktober Fest! Have lots of fun with your furry friend and human friends as you enjoy Grumpy Old Men Brewing’s specialty beer for the event. Come on out to this FREE event from 12:30pm-6:00pm.


October 29th

Location: Blue Ridge Community Theater

Learn more about the area with haunting tales and legends told by local storytellers for Haunts and Harvest at Blue Ridge Community Theater. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. 


October 30th 

Location: House of Prayer Blairsville

Kick off the Halloween festivities early with Trunk or Treat at House of Prayer in Blairsville. There will be food, candy, and hayrides for the whole family to enjoy! Come on down!

Location: Blue Ridge United Methodist Church 

Stop by Blue Ridge United Methodist Church on Halloween for Trunk or Treat fun! There will be candy for the kids, live music, free smores & hot chocolate, and hayrides.

More Halloween fun awaits the kiddos with trick treating in Downtown Blue Ridge on Halloween night! Not only will there be lots of candy but there will also be a costume contest and a pet costume contest for cats & dogs! The fun starts at 4pm!

Bring the kiddos to enjoy some trick or treating in the Twin Cities from the local merchants! The event is FREE and open to all children. The Halloween fun starts at 6pm!
