November Events 2024

The holidays are just around the corner! And November marks the start of holiday shopping and festive events and festivals around the mountains. This month you can cross off everything on your Christmas list by heading to a local Christmas market, or kick off the season with a tree lighting at the end of the month. And as always there’s more music and art events around town to enjoy, as well as a few more fall festivals before we jump into the holiday season. 

Boots, Barbecue & Blessing 

November 1st

Location: First Fruits of the Ridge

Put on your cowboy boots & hats and come on out for Boots, Barbecue & Blessing at First Fruits of the Ridge in Ellijay. The event will have appetizers, a catered dinner, live & silent suction, raffles, and a night of comedy from Bean & Bailey. Proceeds will go to expanding children programs and providing food for people in need. Tickets are $150 a person. 


Annual Everything Christmas Sale

November 1st-November 2nd  

Location: Union County Library 

The friends of the Union County Library will be hosting a Christmas sale! On November 1st and 2nd, you’ll find lots of ornaments, stockings, garlands, wreaths, and everything Christmas! The event is free to attend and runs from 10am-4pm both days.


Mel Brook’s Young Frankenstein the Musical 

November 1st-November 3rd 

Location: Blue Ridge Community Theater 

Get in the Halloween spirit with Mel Brook’s Young Frankenstein the Musical at Blue Ridge Community Theater! Following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Fredrick Frankenstein animates his own creature who inevitably escapes the lab. Hilarity ensues as Frankenstein chases the creature across the countryside of Transylvania! Shows are Thursdays – Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm. Northeast Georgia Arts Tour

Location: Northeast Georgia 

Art lovers will love getting an up close and personal look into the artistic process. Meet live demonstrating artists all weekend long as they show off their skills & talents in a variety of mediums. Follow the Art Tour signs throughout Northeast Georgia and North Carolina to visit artist studios and galleries in our scenic mountain area.

Trash to Treasure Sale

November 2nd 

Location: Union County Civic Center


One man’s trash in another man’s treasure! Come on out for Union County Lions Club’s  annual Trash to Treasure Sale! There will be over 40 vendors in attendance selling all kinds of gently used items. There will also be a selection of tasty food for sale. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Vision Conservation programs of the Lions Club.


American Cornhole Organization Regional Tournament

November 2nd

Location: Ocoee River Distillery


Come on down to Ocoee River Distillery for a cornhole tourney hosted by the American Cornhole Organization! Players will compete at the local level for world ranking and points. Players can compete in either World Singles, World Doubles, Women, Seniors, or Coed Doubles divisions. Registration begins at 9am and is $10 a person.  


Bluegrass Fall Festival 

November 2nd 

Location: Ducktown School


Come on out for this fun-filled, bluegrass event! There will be amazing bluegrass music all day, crafters, food vendors, a petting zoo and so much more! Admission is $10 a person and kids 12 & under are free!


Fall Forest Bathing Walk

November 2nd 

Location: 6 Ponds Farm


Go on a guided walk on the hiking trails at 6 Ponds Farm. Connect with nature in this immersive, sensory experience. Only 16 spots available. 


Christmas Open House

Bigfoot Boogie 5k

Location: Riverwalk, McCaysville


The Riverwalk Run Series presents the Bigfoot Boogie 5K. 3.1 Miles, 2 States, 1 Steelbridge. A 5K like no other, and costumes are encouraged! This scenic run follows the historic Toccoa River along McCaysville, GA and into Copperhill, TN for a wonderful day of fun!


Art for All

The show will feature 1979 Rat Rods, Traditional Hot Rods, Customs, Lead Sleds, Shop Trucks, and Patina Vehicles. General admission is $10 per person and children 12 & under are free! 


Almost Maine

This charming show follows multiple couples from the town of Almost, Maine as they fall both in and out of love in unexpected ways. Join in the fun for Mason Tractor Company’s 6th Annual Turkey Shoot Fundraiser! There will be shootings, bbq fixin’s, prizes and more at this fun event! No live turkeys will be shot, targets are stationary paper targets. All proceeds will benefit the Fannin County Young Farmer’s Association.

The 13th Annual WhoDunIt art event is a great opportunity to get your hands on amazing art from local artists at a great price! It’s your job to find out who the artist is who created your piece! There will be food, fun, and of course stunning works of art!  Tickets are $50 a person and ensure you go home with a beautiful piece of art!

Tour of Trees

Location: Serenity in the Mountains

One of Blue Ridge’s most magical traditions is back at Serenity in the Mountains: The Tour of Trees! Come see as the spa is all aglow from the lights of dozens of Christmas trees. Tickets are $20 person and proceeds help to raise money for the Fannin County Shop with a Cop program.


The Gift of the Magi 

November 21st-November 30th

Location: Blue Ridge Community Theater

Celebrate the holiday season by going to see a beloved classic Christmas show, The Gift of the Magi! The story follows a newlywed couple trying to make ends meet and they both go through great lengths to give each other the perfect Christmas gift.  Shows are Thursdays – Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm. Blue Ridge on Ice

Have some family friendly winter fun with ice skating at the Farmer’s Market! This fun new outdoor ice skating rink is set up at the Blue Ridge Farmers Market, next to the Swan Drive In, on select dates now through January 5th. For just $15 you can skate to your heart’s content! After your skate, warm up with hot cocoa and other sweet treats from the concessions stand.


A Cozy Country Christmas- Arts and Crafts Show

November 23rd 

Location: North Georgia Technical College


Head over to  for the day and enjoy more than 70+ local and regional artisans selling their wares. From soaps, quilts, furniture, décor, toys, and more, you can find something for everyone! The event runs from 10am-4pm.


Light Up the Night 5k

November 23rd  

Location: Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds 

Get your blood pumping with this festive 5k run/walk at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds! The course will be illuminated by festive lights and decorations as a part of the Fairgrounds Mountain Country Christmas in Lights season. And come dressed in holiday attire for the chance to win the Holiday Attire Award! Proceeds of the race go towards the young people at Remnant Youth. The race kicks off at 5pm. Blue Ridge Turkey Trot

Location: Downtown Blue Ridge City Park


Get your workout in Thanksgiving morning to prep you for all those carbs at holiday dinner! Come on out for the Blue Ridge Turkey Trot! Walkers & runners welcome! Registration begins at 7am and the race starts at 8am; and don’t worry you’ll have plenty of time to make it back for your Thanksgiving feast!


Thanksgiving Gobble Wobble

November 28th 

Location: Paradise Hills, Cabins-Spa-Farm Winery

Come on our for the Thanksgiving Gobble Wobble- a family fu 5K race! The race starts at 8:30am and feel free to walk or run the race. Tickets are $25 and first 50 there get a turkey hat! All the proceeds go towards “Beyond the Vineyard Program” to benefit youth programs in Union County.  


Thanksgiving Dinner Open Table

November 28th

Location: Fannin County High School


Don’t have a Thanksgiving meal planned? No problem, the Good Samaritans of Fannin County will take care of you! Head to Fannin County High School’s cafeteria on Thanksgiving from 12pm-4pm for good food & fellowship. They’ll be offering smoked turkey with all the fixin’s and takeout meals are available as well. 


Mountain Country Christmas Lights

November 28th-November 30th 

Location: Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds

See the Christmas lights reflecting off the waters of Lake Chatuge at the Georgia Mountain Fair’s Mountain Country Christmas Lights! There will be Christmas music, arts and craft vendors, holiday food, hot chocolate, Cowtown exhibit, pictures with Santa, and beautiful lights around the grounds. The event runs every Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 6pm-9pm November 28rd thru December 7th and then nightly December 12th thru December 23rd.


Light Up McCaysville

November 29th 

Location: McCaysville

McCaysville has their own light up celebration as well! There will be shopping, dining, pictures with Santa, and holiday cheer all along the river. The fun starts at 5pm and the tree lighting is at 7pm!


Black Friday “Sip and Shop”

Light Up Blue Ridge Festivities 

November 29th-November 30th 

Location: Downtown Blue Ridge GA

On Friday Downtown Blue Ridge will have a special Blue Friday event where there will be store discounts, food vendors, strolling entertainment, and Christmas cheer! The Gingerbread Village will also open that afternoon as well at The Arts Center. Then on Saturday the real fun begins! Santa will be in town ready to take photos with kids in the gazebo from 12pm-4:15pm. And downtown will be filled with food vendors, strolling Christmas entertainment, and even more Christmas cheer! Then at 5:30pm the Christmas Parade starts at the corner of East Main street and Church street. And the great tree will be lit right after the parade at 7pm! It’s going to be a wonderful weekend of holiday fun
