August Events 2024

Summer may be coming to a close but that doesn’t mean we have any shortage of summer fun in store for you! This month you can look forward to two great rodeos in Blue Ridge and Hiawassee, great live music, rides, and more at the 73rd annual Georgia Mountain Fair, grape stomping at Paradise Hill’s annual Grape Stomp Festival, educational fun at Blairsville’s Mountain Heritage Festival, and two fun shows at Blue Ridge Community Theater. August will end summer on a high note! 


August 1st-August 3rd 

Location: The Folk Collaborative 

Picnic beneath the apple trees all through spring and summer at Folk Collaborative! Bring your closest friends and family to relax under the trees. Folk Collaborative  will provide you with everything you need; the picnic basket, blanket, and food. All you need to bring is your wonderful self! Call 706-492-7753 to book your picnic today!


August 1st-August 24th 

Location: Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association

Come on out to the Art Center now through August 24th to see beautiful digital media from local artists. Enjoy photography or videography? Submit your work and see if you can win Best in Show! Artists and art lovers alike are welcome!


August 1st-August 29th 

Location: Horseshoe Bend Park

Every Thursday night at 6:00pm, May-September visit Horseshoe Bend Park in McCaysville, GA for live music and picnicking by the Toccoa River. Picnic tables are available but feel free to bring a picnic blanket and lawn chair as well. Admission is free so bring the whole family to enjoy!


August 1st-August 31st 

Location: Grumpy Old Men Brewing 

Stop by Grumpy Old Men Brewery Thursdays to sing along to your favorite songs for karaoke night! And drop by select Fridays & Saturdays from 3pm-6pm for great drinks, great music, and a great time. With indoor and outdoor seating available you can even bring your dog to join in the fun! Enjoy delicious fare from the ever-changing food trucks, while you listen to some fantastic local artists! And on Monday nights come on out for SINGO and Thursday nights is Karaoke!

Dance the night away at The Ridges Resort Silent Disco! Your favorite tunes will be playing from 8pm-11pm and a cash bar will be available as well. Tickets are $20 at the entrance.

Location: Cherry Log, GA

Explore the beauty of North Georgia on a guided hiking tour with the Benton Mackaye Trail. They offer 2-4 hikes a month varying in difficulty from easy, leisurely hikes to moderately difficult hikes.

August 2nd: Bear Creek Trail. DOG-FRIENDLY HIKE. Moderate 7 miles.

August 10th: BMTA Monthly Maintenance Trip.

August 12th: Whigg Meadow. Mildly moderate 2.6 miles, 500' climb. 

August 16th: Emery Creek. Moderate 5 miles.

Location: Hook & Eye Rooftop Bar

Take in downtown Blue Ridge from the roof of the Hook & Eye! This restaurant features excellent cuisine, a full bar, great views, an inviting atmosphere inside, and balcony seating on the outside! And drop on by for live music Friday and Saturday nights from 7pm-10pm.

This hilarious comedy follows two crazy sisters and  their family bonds, widowhood, sibling rivalry, and their love of bingo. The audience will even be able to join in the fun with a bingo game of their own, winner will get a 10lb frozen turkey! You won’t want to miss it! Prepare to be entertained at the 28th Annual Kiwani’s Rodeo! There will be bronco riding, calf roping, calf scrambles, bareback riding, bull riding, team roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing, and so much more! There will also be a “Boot Toss” raffle and food vendors. You won’t want to miss this fun-filled event running from 6pm-11pm August 16th-17th.

Venture on over to Hiawassee, Georgia for some good old fashioned fun at The 73rd Annual Georgia Mountain Fair! There will be carnival rides, music performances, arts & craft booths, special attractions & experiences, delicious food, a parade, a beauty pageant and so much more! Admire a selection of classic cars at this free event happening on the 4th Friday of every thru September at 6pm! Bring your own classic car to register and get $4 off Dairy Queen certificate when you register! Ice cream, classic cars, and a good time!


August 24th 

Location: Buck Bald Brewing 

Come out to Buck Bald Brewing to support a great cause and enjoy some delicious brews! There will be 12 B3 brews on tap, live music from Daisy Chain, a 50/50 raffle, a live auction, and all proceeds will go towards the Humane Society of Blue Ridge. Drop by from 12pm-4pm.

Come on out to Paradise Hills in Blairsville for their 11th annual Grape Stomp Festival! Your $25 ticket includes admission and a souvenir wine glass. There will also be great live music, food trucks, craft vendors, and grape stomping at 2pm & 4pm! This stomping fun event will happen August 31st from 11am-5pm.

Come celebrate the unique artistic works of local artists at BRMAA’s Contemporary Southern & Folk Art Exhibit. The exhibit will be open Tuesdays-Saturdays, August 31st to October 13th. With an opening reception August 31st at 5:30pm.

Location: Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds

Celebrate the long weekend by watching bucking broncos & bulls at the annual Hiawassee Pro Rodeo! See some of the world’s best contestants from the U.S. and Canada as well as some amazing specialty acts! The whole family will love it! Tickets are $20 for adults and children 5 & under are free!


August 31st 

Location: Blairsville Town Square

Make your way over to Blairsville, GA for Labor Day weekend to celebrate the history and mountain culture of Blairsville and Union County. There will be crafts, music, living history activities, demonstrations on quilting, spinning, basket making,  farm animals, and gold panning, along with fun activities for children. The events will happen in Downtown Blairsville Square. Admission is free!
