NORTH GEORGIA RIVER AND LAKES
With 500+ miles of mountain water, Fannin County has secured the title of the "Trout Capital of Georgia". The Jacks and Conasauga Rivers in Cohutta Wilderness Area offer a backcountry trout fishing experience. The Toccoa River is ideal for anglers of all abilities. In addition to rainbows and browns, fishermen land bass, bream, bluegill and in Lake Blue Ridge. Boaters, water and jet skiers love clean, clear Lake Blue Ridge and nearby Lake Nottely. Looking for a lazy-day outing? Rent an inner tube and float on the Toccoa River's gentle currents. Kayakers, canoers, standup paddlers and even whitewater rafters find plenty of places to play, too. If you want to swim, then try the Morganton Point Beach, which includes designated swimming areas, picnic tables, white beach, bathhouse and trash bins.
