A local chili cook-off with ice sculptures throughout town that combine to make this a wonderful annual winter event.

MARCH 2018

Annual Blue Ridge Writers Conference
For the last 20 years, the mission of the Blue Ridge Writers' Conference is to educate, inform, and inspire writers.  While the North Georgia Mountains is blessed with many aspiring writers, opportunities for them to learn and excel in their craft are fewer than for the larger metropolitan area.  The Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association has sought to fill that need for the last two decades resulting in the Blue Ridge Writers' Conference becoming a unique cultural asset to the area.  

Wine Highway Weekend 

This is a great way to see and experience the views and wonderful wines of Northeast Georgia.

MAY

Spring Arts in the Park Festival
Enjoy regional arts and crafts, music and more while exploring nearly 200 festival booths. Kids are admitted free to this family-friendly festival.

Blue Ridge Mountain Adventure Race
Watch or participate as 80 teams hike, mountain bike, run and kayak in the Chattahoochee National Forest. The race starts in the forest and ends in downtown Blue Ridge with music and food at the finish line. Also includes a kid’s race.

Pickin’ in Horseshoe Bend Park?

Horseshoe Bend Park, McCaysville, Memorial 
Listen or join in with free jam sessions in the Park’s pavilions by the Toccoa River. Thursdays, 6 p.m. - dusk.

 

JUNE

Seniors Fishing Rodeo, June 6, 2014
Free event for ages 55-up. Bring your own fishing gear and bait.

Family Fishing Festival, June 7, 2014
This entertaining, free event covers all things trout-related: fly-tying instruction, casting demonstrations and educational exhibits. Families can also try their luck at nearby Rock Creek.

JULY

Old Timers Day Parade
Fun for all ages, this Fourth of July parade features the Feed & Seed Marching Abominable street band from Atlanta.

Lake Blue Ridge Fireworks
The patriotic festivities begin at 4 p.m., with live music, barbeque and fireworks over Lake Blue Ridge as night falls.

Miners Homecoming
A small town Independence Day celebration with a rousing fireworks display firing off from Tater Hill at “dark-thirty”.

Escape to Blue Ridge Tri the Mountains Triathlon
Escape to Blue Ridge is the title sponsor of this swim-bike-run race in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains. A live band and refreshments greets triathletes at the finish line in Downtown Blue Ridge.

AUGUST

Blue Ridge Kiwanis Rodeo
The Kiwanis bring a western rodeo to town, with bull and bronco riding, calf and team roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing and other fun events.

SEPTEMBER

Labor Day Barbeque
Summer winds down with an annual barbeque, kicking off at 11 a.m. and lasting until the food is gone! Delicious “Q” and local entertainment.

Blue Ridge Blues and Barbeque
A lively Blues Crawl on Friday nights, followed by more blues and barbeque on Saturday.

OCTOBER

Fall Arts in the Park
With nearly 200 arts and crafts booths, visitors get a chance to see regional creativity at its best. The festival includes food and events for kids of all ages.

Blue Ridge Fall Fest
A cornucopia of mountain arts, crafts, food and fun spanning two weekends.

Paws in the Park
A pet-friendly event with displays and demonstrations, a pet costume contest, photos and more.

Halloween Safe Zone
Main Street Blue Ridge is closed to traffic but open to trick or treaters who stroll safely from shop to shop. The evening includes pumpkin carving, costume contests, food and entertainment.

NOVEMBER

Holiday Art Show and Sale
An opportunity to shop for unique gifts created by regional artists and craftsmen.

Light up Blue Ridge
Embrace the holiday spirit with Christmas carols, refreshments, lighting the town’s Christmas tree and Santa’s arrival.

DECEMBER

Hometown Christmas
McCaysville’s hometown Christmas celebration includes a parade, refreshments, entertainment, Santa’s visit and a traditional lighting of the bridge.

Blue Ridge Scenic Railway Christmas Express
Gather family and friends for a holiday excursion and visits with Mr. and Mrs. Claus and the elves. The scenic mountain train journey includes Christmas stories and caroling.
